While waiting on God to move, I reflect upon Jasmine’s artistic talents. All of the decor in our home are expressions of her cultural identity and her family and spiritual values – the wall decor, flower arrangements, and the pictures of family.

Jasmine also learned the cultural arts of Japanese dance and Hawaiian hula, and she was outstanding at both because her performances were an outflow of her passions. After she became a Christian, she applied hula to songs such as Surely the Presence, Shout to the Lord, and The Prayer. For Jasmine, these were not performances but worship. One of her favorites was Power of Your Love. I regret that it had not been video recorded as all I have are the memories in my mind’s eye.

As I reflected upon Jasmine’s hula, I read the lyrics I understood more clearly why Jasmine was so passionate in her worship of this song. It encapsulates the testimony of her life. It embraces the deepest desires of her soul—to draw closer to God each day, to allow the Holy Spirit to transform her, and rise up to bring glory to Him. As you read through the lyrics, you too will come to understand Jasmine’s heart.

Power of Your Love

Lord I come to You
Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace
That I found in You.
Lord I’ve come to know
The weaknesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of Your love.

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side.
And as I wait
I’ll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love.

Lord unveil my eyes
Let me see You face to face
knowledge of Your love
As You live in me.
Lord renew my mind
As Your will unfolds in my life
In living every day
By the power of Your love.
